Alfred, who won gold in the 100 metres and silver in the 200 metres at the Paris Olympics, finished runner-up to archrival Sha’Carri Richardson of the United States in the last Diamond League qualifier in Zurich last week. While the 23-year-old admitted that she was looking forward to the end of the season, she said she wanted to end the season on a high. “Right now, I’m just really having fun and trying to finish strong…just finishing strong. That’s all I care about,” Alfred told Citius Mag after her race in Zurich. Alfred, who became St Lucia’s first ever Olympic medallist, revealed that she had not returned home since her success in Paris. She disclosed that she had opted to return to her training base in Texas. However, she maintained that she was eagerly looking forward to celebrating with her countrymen on her arrival in St Lucia, following the completion of the Diamond League final. – CMC Alfred focusing on 100m BASSETERRE, St Kitts: T he Antigua and Barbuda Falcons will have to do without their star opening batsman and top run scorer Fakhar Zaman for the remainder of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
