7 THE STAR NEWS • Thursday, September 12, 2024 @JamaicaStar www.facebook.com/JamaicaStar • www.jamaica-star.com F or the past 25 years, Ultimate Jerk Centre has been satisfying the taste of customers with its mouth- watering, spice-drenched, pimento-infused perfection. Co-owned by dynamic duo Leslie and Iris Talbot, this culinary hotspot, located in Discovery Bay, St Ann, has been a must-stop for both locals and tourists craving the real taste of Jamaica. The food spot was recently honoured with a 25-year long-standing customer award by Red Stripe. “It’s a blessing,” gushed co- owner Iris. “To be honoured and recognised by Red Stripe, the official beer of Jamaica, with a 25-year long- standing customer award while celebrating our anniversary is an absolute honour especially since we are a development coming from humble beginnings,” Iris added. But how did it all start? Back in 1999, the Talbots took over a modest roadside jerk stand from a local legend known as ‘African,’ determined to keep his beloved recipes alive. Fast forward to today, and that small stand has transformed into a landmark on the north coast, famous for its smoky, beer-infused jerk that’s cooked to perfection. “Our secret?” said Iris, with a knowing smile. “Slow cooking and splashes of Red Stripe beer. It’s what keeps people coming back! And our staff are trained to the same high standards as Portland’s Boston Jerk, so you know you’re getting the real deal.” The Ultimate Jerk Centre celebrated their anniversary in style on August 21, throwing an epic party that featured live reggae, dancehall music, and, of course, more jerk than one can imagine. With juicy chicken, pork, and even rabbit sizzling on the grills, it was a feast fit for foodies and music lovers alike. Red Stripe brand manager Nathan Nelms was thrilled to celebrate the milestone. “We are proud to partner with an establishment that embodies the essence of Jamaican culture and flavour. The Ultimate Jerk Centre has become synonymous with authenticity and quality, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future,” Nelms said.
