The woman, Candice Underwood, appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday on a charge of overstaying. She told Senior Parish Judge Sanchia Burrell that she is not anxious to return home. “I just want my life back. I’ll like to ask to stay in the country until I can start back my life,” Underwood pleaded. The woman, who has been in the country for nearly a year, was remanded in custody for a psychiatric evaluation and to facilitate the attendance of a representative from the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency on the next court date. Underwood, however, protested the order for the psychiatric evaluation, telling the judge that she is mentally stable. “There is nothing wrong with me. I have no psychiatric history,” the United Kingdom resident declared. Judge Burrell, however, has telegraphed her position on the matter. “I wish I had an ‘eject’ button to send you back to England without the due process,” the judge said. The matter was adjourned until November 1. UK resident begs to stay in Jamaica “I just want my life back.
